On the Arena Info page:
The Martha’s Vineyard Arena is home to MV Youth Hockey, MV High School Boys Hockey, MV High School Girls Hockey, the MV Figure Skating Club, Public Skating, the Cutting Edge Pro Shop, Adult Hockey, Summer High School Hockey League, the East Coast Classic AAA Hockey Tournament, and Summer Hockey Camps. It is also available for private rental for birthday parties, family outings and other events.
Established in 1974, the Arena began operations in January, 1980, as an outdoor skating facility. In 1992, with the help of local businesses and a generous loan guarantee, the Arena completed a capital improvement program, enclosing the ice arena and providing year-round skating activities. The Arena is a tribute not only to the management and financial planning of the Board of Directors, but also the generous financial support of this remarkable community.
2002 marked the culmination of twenty-one years of effort with the commencement of the final phase, providing shower and locker room facilities for the atheletes and community members who use the arena. Today the arena is a place that grows community development and enriches the lives of children, teenagers and parents alike. It is a place where good values are instilled, where friendship and respect are the products of peer support and parental involvement.
The Arena is wholly owned by Martha’s Vineyard Arena, Inc., a non-profit community organization with a 501(c)(3) designation. Your gifts are gratefully welcomed and are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed. Additionally, the Ice Brick Campaign to benefit the Arena Endowment Fund is underway and represents a way to honor family, friends, coach, team or mentor, and to provide support for the Martha's Vineyard Arena now and for future generations. Anyone wishing to contribute may do so by contacting Kurt Mundt, General manager, at 508-693-5329, or at Box 2062, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
